一、教学对象
本课程适用于非英语专业文理等本科已经达到《大学英语课程教学要求》(2007版)中“基本要求”，希望进一步提升英文写作能力的学生。
二、教学目的
本课程采用写作理论讲解与写作实践相结合的方式，介绍常用英文文体写作方法，适当突出写作的实用性，介绍常用应用文的写作，如申请出国学习、访问、公私信函、通知、海报等，同时兼顾大学英语六级及考研作文写作技巧的讲解，对常见的英文作文重点句式、作文典型实例进行分析。旨在系统地提高思维组织能力和语言表达能力，使学生在更高层次上运用和把握已经学到的语言知识，逐渐培养学生的英语语感及用英语表达思想的能力。

四、教学方法
本课程主要采用以下教学方法：
1.讲授法：教师对本课程要点知识进行讲解。采用启发式教学，培养学生思考问题、分析问题和解决问题的能力，引导学生通过实践和自学获得知识。
2.讨论法：课上组织学生就某个知识点进行讨论,激发学生的写作热情。
3.实践法：学生课后完成教师布置的写作任务,进行自评互评,修改作文等。
五、考核方法
本课程的考核内容包括课堂出勤及课堂表现，平时作业和学期考试。考核采用百分制形式，具体分值比例如下：
1）课堂出勤及课堂表现占20%；
2）平时作业占20%；
3）学期考试占60%。
